Morpho-physiological and anatomical characteristics of Urochloa brizantha cv. Marandu in silvopastoral and monoculture systems

To gain insights into the forage morphological and anatomical characteristics in a silvopastoral system (SPS) with Bolsa de Pastor (Zeyheria tuberculosa) palisadegrass ‘Marandu’ (Urochloa brizantha) monoculture (MONO). The SPS was established through natural regeneration of tree species. Treatments were MONO distributed completely randomized design six replicates repeated measures harvest periods. Response variables morpho-physiological characteristicss: green: dead material ratio, leaf blade: stem+sheath area index, chlorophyll carotenoid concentrations, proportions non-lignified achlorophyllous areas, lignified areas stems, chlorophyllous leaves, as well cell length longitudinal section stem. Morpho-physiological patterns altered (p < 0.05) under shading conditions due to higher photosynthetic efficiency SPS. There no effect > systems on patterns, achlorophyllous, tissues, these influenced only by periods year, both for stems leaves.
